UJIA Ladies Night 2017

UJIA Ladies Night 2017

It was a great privilege to Chair the second annual UJIA Ladies Night which was a tremendous success raising more than £165,000. The dinner launched the annual UJIA women’s campaign which will support programmes that strengthen Jewish identity through Israel engagement. Today we live in unprecedented times, with last year’s Brexit vote and Donald Trump’s recent inauguration as President, America and Britain have undergone a people’s revolution. Our Jewish community needs to start its own revolution, to fight the disengagement of our youth, and do everything we can to ensure we have a future generation who are inspired by and committed to the Israel of today.

It’s Ladies Night saw over 300 women gather at The Montcalm to celebrate the newly re-formed UJIA Women’s Division and paid tribute to 3 outstanding young people with inspiring leadership qualities. A brand new annual award was launched in the name of the late Joy Cohen for Outstanding Leadership by a Young Woman. This was won by Jewish Labour Movement Director, Ella Rose, who was announced as the first winner in an Oscar-style awards ceremony. NUS National Executive Committee member, Izzy Lenga, and Zohar Isakov, Graduate of Carmiel Children’s Village, and the Western Galilee College, were also both awarded a UJIA Young Leadership Award.

The evening, was full of entertainment with a silent auction and hosted by Russ Kane and Hilary O’Neil. Israel’s winner of The Voice, Lina, wowed us with her winning song Halleluiah, and the amazing busking Big-Band The London Essentials had us singing along and even dancing on chairs.

Congratulations on delivering another smashing evening. The event was a huge success. There was tremendous energy in the room.
Led by you, the committee and professionals delivered an event that got our message across, had a sense of purpose and was tasteful and fun.

Hi Karen, I wanted to thank you for Monday night, it was a great event and I am thrilled to see that you raised so much for such a worthy cause. Our table were discussing how our generation is less engaged with the Jewish community and events like this really empower us to do something about it. Thanks again for hosting such a lovely event.
